It’s not an exaggeration to say the number one indication of reaching superstar status is the point at which you are addressed mononymously. The Madonnas, Beyonces and Chers of this world are clear examples of this.
Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman, known to us as just Zendaya, is famous for her role in the Disney Channel sitcom, Shake It Up, and has since gone on to star in blockbuster films while forging a reputable music career. The only thing that’s more thrilling than watching Disney Channel shows is witnessing the child stars of these shows grow into entertainment magnates, and in Zendaya’s case, a style icon.
A heavy title for a for a 20-year-old but I can’t help but admire the strides Zendaya has made in her fashion journey, from having her own face spread across Disney merchandise to walking the biggest red carpets and featuring on major best dressed lists. The brunette bombshell is fearless in her pursuit of all things unique and remains unapologetically true to her unmatched style. To that list of compliments, we can add “the inventor of monochrome”.
Her recent showstopper interpretation of this year’s “Rei Kawakubo / Commes des Garçons.” themed Met Gala was just another reminder of this style queen’s prevalence, making her a fitting style crush!
